I graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in Computer Science in 1996.  I spent the following seven years writing console games for Gremlin Interactive and then Infogrames (now Atari) in Sheffield, England.  During this time I was lucky enough to be able to contribute to a wide range of fun titles, as well as leading the programming teams on MicroMachines (PlayStation2, X-Box and GameCube) and Hogs of War (PlayStation).

Between 2003 and 2006, I undertook a full-time research PhD in the field of "Games and Learning" within the Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Nottingham. I wrote a number of academic papers and presented my research at national and international conferences. My thesis was on the "The Effective Integration of Digital Games and Learning Content".
